Inquiry Based Art Sessions
Our Home-school Art Sessions invite children into the studio to explore creativity through hands-on, process-led making. In a relaxed and supportive environment, participants are encouraged to investigate materials, experiment with techniques, and develop their own ideas while building creative confidence and artistic skills.
Guided by an inquiry-based approach, sessions create opportunities for children to explore themes, artists, materials, and creative processes that connect with their interests and current learning. Alongside independent exploration, children can connect with other home-school learners, collaborate, share ideas, and express themselves through meaningful creative experiences.
Creative experiences may include:
• Drawing and mark-making
• Printmaking
• Painting
• Sculpture and construction
• Mixed-media exploration
• Collaborative projects
• And more
Tailored Learning
Sessions can be shaped around customised units of inquiry and adapted to support a range of ages, interests, experience levels, and learning goals.
Friday 10:30–11:30am*
$35.50 per child, per session
Flexible commitment options.
*A minimum of five children is required for each session to proceed.
The Transdisciplinary Themes are broad themes used in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) to help students connect learning across subjects and real-world experiences.
The six transdisciplinary themes are:
Who We Are
Exploring identity, beliefs, health, relationships, and what it means to be human.
Where We Are in Place and Time
Investigating history, journeys, exploration, migration, and connections between people and civilizations.
How We Express Ourselves
Looking at creativity, communication, feelings, culture, and the ways people share ideas.
How the World Works
Exploring the natural world, science, technology, and how things function.
How We Organize Ourselves
Understanding systems, communities, economics, governance, and human-made structures.
Sharing the Planet
Examining resources, sustainability, rights, responsibilities, and relationships with the environment and other living things.
For home-school art sessions, these themes can naturally connect to creative projects. For example:
• Who We Are → self-portraits, identity collages
• How We Express Ourselves → music-inspired painting, storytelling through art
• Sharing the Planet → recycled sculpture, nature art
• Where We Are in Place and Time → cultural art studies, historical artists
Using transdisciplinary themes helps children make meaningful connections between art, inquiry, and everyday life.
